Which oil for 1.8T

Hi All, sure this has probably been convered a million times before, tried a search without success !!

Which oil do you guys recomend for a 1.8T, AGU engine.

Ive just bought an Audi A3 1.8T Sport, has 83K on the clock.

I'll be doing my own servicing, but im un-sure which oil to use.

Castrol SLX Longlife II, 0-30 Grade
But its like 10L Dow [:^(]

Is that not too thin for an engine with 80-odd k on it ?

I had a nissan 200sx before, and used Mobil 1 15-50 in that

 

i wouldn't use anything made by castrol

just get the gold synta stuff from the dealers, it's good and reasonably cheap

 

so it needs fully synthetic oil?

 

I use Synta silver semi-synthetic on my A3 1.8T.

 

Actually I use it in my engine, cos pouring it on the car is just silly

 

I use Quantum Synta Gold in mine.. changed every 5K miles.

 

Sorry is SLR not sure off the grade!
But the SLX was made by castrol with Audi for the 225bhp engine its something to do with the Ko4 turbo the rep told me but i forgot Audi said the same about it to, so i'm not going to use anything else

 

interesting as in tests castrol oil has been poven to be pretty poo, maybe they have cleaned up their act

Once bitten by Castrol so twice shy. Wouldn't put it in my lawnmower.

Synta Silver should do the job if the car is standard. Cheapest from GSF.
