I've got a Clifford Concept 650 Mk1 - immob and alarm. i think its pretty good.. very very loud. Warning siren for anyone having a good nose at your car lol

the brilliant thing about it is you can get add on sensors like remote start, anti tilt and glass sensors

i dont know of a company who do mobile installations but there is someone on Edition 38 who is a licensed installer. He did the one on mine

Toad Ai606 - cracking alarm and very reliable - not something you can always say about Clifford.

Another vote for the AI606.

Every Clifford I've ever encountered is an over-complicated waste of time. The Toad unit is a simple(r) install, with just as many features you actually need, and much simpler user-interface (read as less f*nnying with fob required)

You could buy an alarm and have an accreditted mobile alarm fitter install it and get the certificate.

...fit it yourself, bung an alarm tech a tenner for the certificate. Worked for me in the past!

"Hi, I need my alarm certifying for my insurance"

"Let's see the fob...yeah, Toad AI606. Defo Cat 1. Call it a tenner and I'll do you certificate, yeah?

    "Works for me..."

So the Toad AI606 would be a good option for a mk2? Is it possible to install it without trashing the electrics (as I've seen too many times on a mk2)

If the car doesnt have an existing alarm then yes if fitted properly you won't ruin the electrics.

It's not the alarms themselves that "trash the electrics" it's cowboy fitters or well-intentioned by skill-lacking DIYers.

If you're methodical and neat any alarm install will integrate virtually seamlessly with the OE electrics.

I just hate Clifford's though, because they can be so over-complicated as to almost invite bodgery...!

Ok cool, I reckon that's worth doing then. It's probably worth installing it myself then if I want it done properly, or find a qualified installer who knows mk2s

I have a Cat 1 Cobra on the Mk2 and it works a treat. Also have a Clifford on the GTO and it's been faultless, built in turbo timer etc.

I fit alarms to bikes and agree it's all down to the installer, seen some shocking jobs over the years but also some really neat ones too!.
