Got my replacement exhaust manifold for GTI 8V and may have a problem... On the original '90 manifold, on the right side there is a steel plate 3" x 1/2" ish bolted between exhaust and inlet manifolds, presumably to support one or the other. On the replacement one the mounting lug for the bracket is missing??? Why did VW add the bracket and is it a problem if i don't have it?
most the brackets on the older untouched car have disapeered due to rust, i cant see a problem of not having one. is the new one a brand new exhaust manifold? if so how much are they?
Yes, I've seen them rusted to nothing so shouldn't be too much or a problem but i still wonder why VW added it, did they have damaged inlet manifolds or heads and so needed to add the extra support? No, exhaust mani is an old one but has been ported to match the ported head
is it originallly a GTI one? come to think of it im sure the old AGG one only had one mount not the PB two, is it the one nearest the pulley end?
