Has this been done..........2.0l 8v Bottom on 16v 1.8 head???? My mate is interested in this possible convertion as he has heard it will give more torque. I am sure I have read somewhere this is possible but is it really possible????
It involves a fair old bit of work to be done properly and it is usally only done to lower the compression on a 16v for a forced induction conversion. It will not produce more torque in a NA configuration as the compression ratio is lowered significantly. Better off fitting a whole 16v engine as the time and effort to convert the 8v bottom end will cost more than buying a complete engine. Where did your mate hear this out of interest?
