Thanks to a stray stone from Donnington today i have 3 concentric circles measuring 3" across right infront of my nose! Who are the cheapest people to get a replacment screen from? It won't be an insurance claim.. and could do with it doing tonight! Please help me...
the way it works is that your ins company will have a policy where u have a separate windscreen excess. about 50 quid normally. they also nominate the fixer too.
Thats what I thought. I had to buy one ages ago for a car which wasn`t insured and I got it from one of the big names(autoglass or whatever) and the guy took 50 off me supplied an fitted.
Not every insurance has it... cos mine don't. They're wanting 132.. how much are they straight from VAG?
Mate of mine put his in with a bit of rope in the seal pushing it in and pulling out rope at same time.If you get the picture .Made it look dead easy but you will always worry if it is sealed properly.
Got quoted 154 from autoglass sup + fit Used National windscreens and was quoted 61 + vat for a tinted one sup + fit! Think it`s going to be the latter...
WRONG Try nearer 55 for a green tint one - bought on this summer, was dirt cheap, there was a thread on the old forum about it. Go to VAG and get one, easy enoguh to fit
Just had one fitted (1/2 hour to do) cost 72 all in, just a plain screen though (same as original). Amazed what a difference a new screen makes, old one was a bit pitted mind..
is that stuff about how a windsreens fitted can effect the rigidity of a car true? (as on autoglass ads)
most of the new cars have bonded in screens though dont they? i dont think it will make much difference if its held in with a rubber seal. its gonna flex a bit what ever you do
