    Folks,

    Just bought an electric window set for my Mk2 which has windy down windows.

    Is this an easy swap, any problems or issues you know of are well recieved!

    Thanks.

    If it`s a standard setup, then all the requsite mounting holes are there already. A simple bolt in job.

    if not though it's a bit more fiddily and not such a straight forward job, plus they are generally a bit pants and take a lot of adjustments to get them working smoothly

    You must have just had trouble with yours then... ;)

    The standard factory setup is designed to be there, and the mounting holes are there also, in a slightly different position to where the manual mech bolts up.

    No adjustment necessary in my experience; Bolt in motor assembly, bolt lower glass channel to assembly, plug in loom and switches. Job done...

    Where you may have had trouble with smooth running would be due to a dry/bent front guide, which is easily fixed.

    No stu I meant the universal leccy window kits are trouble! the sort of thing you get off ebay and come with all sorts of plastic clips that bend and fall apart and are a pig to fit.
    Something like these;

    Question if I may thread hi-jack :thumbup:

    Where does the loom plug into for power? I was told "stick it in the fusebox, job done" but I've no idea where [:$]

    see the fusebox faq for wiring, its different depending on which fusebox you have. chekc the location of the hazard switch, on dash = pre-90, on column = post-90.

    on pre-90 its easy, 2 groups of spades on the back, 1 side live other ign live. obv check them with a multimeter before plugging stuff in willy-nilly. post-90 slightly more tricky, live there are spare spades for you but ign live you need to splice into one of the plugs round the back. D/9 or D/11 is the factory location.
