    Hi All,

    I have a pierburg [xx(] 2e2 carb, on my '91 1.8 GL.
Two wires go into the back of the carb, left side - when looking at the car from the front.

When these are not connected properly, the Revs will go up to 2.5 - 3K for a while, then settle down. Randomly!(due to the pushrod in the 3 point unit).

I stuck the wires back in and it was fine... for a while.

8 months later, the wires *seem* connected OK, but the problem has started again.

Any Ideas what else can cause this?

Does any body know any pierburg 2e2 specialists?

    Cheers.

PS lack of funds means can't convert to a weber! [:^(]

Yeah me, but I'm a bit busy [:|]

First thing to check is the earth wire from the carb to valve cover. If the wires on the carb still have the black rubber boot on them check they aren't broken inside the boot.

Check all the vacum hoses, particularly the short ones at the rear of the carb.

On the few carburettor problems that I've worked on, I always found the fault to be due to a disconnected or damaged hose somewhere.
