    Sorry mate, my bad, thats what i meant to write above [:$]

    The molegrips were just slipping, even when adjusted to the tightest possible...

    do you have irwins rich? I have a set if you need to borrow them. If you can get them onto it they are without doubt the best thing for getting stuff off.

    the irwins migh tbe the best bet still

    although you could see if you can file or grind a flat on the bolt so the grips hold?

    ttrouble is, I think the irwins would have a better chance with thread still in tact? can always try that if irwins fail. PM'ing you my mobile pal

    deffo worth trying to weld a nut onto it :)

    the heat also helps crack the thread loose, plus then you have a nice big nut to get your socket set on :thumbup:

    Have you got a decent power circuit in your garage? I might be able to nip over and weld a nut on it for you. I've only got a 100 amp welder but it should just about be enough.

    But my lock up hasn't got any power going to it at all...:thumbd:

    Had to do the same repair on my last Mk2. Guilty as charged for being lazy, didnt ever get round to getting a nut welded from above. Didnt have time and dont have a welder. Needed the car back on the road asap.

    Seems to be quite a common problem on the MK2's.

    Its so annoying though when the simpliest of things turn out to be a nightmare.

    Im going to try the Irwin's first and see if they help. Fingers crossed it gets it out :thumbup:
