Hey my abf powered mk3 wont run

When you try to start it it fires for a brief second but wont continue and if you hold the starter motor on you here occasional indications of life!

The engine was removed to change the clutch and sort various other things as far as i can see all plugs are back on in the right areas, tis most odd

    any suggestions?

    cheers

You haven't knocked or damaged the temp senders in the end of the head perhaps? They are close to where you would be working when removing and refitting the gearbox.
All earth connections been refitted too?

I will check temp senders tommorow im pretty sure they are fine

it will run relatively normal with the throttle open abit, but when the throttle is not open anymore it will die

    disconnecting the lambda didnt help

disconnecting crank posistion sensor didnt help, it didnt fire atall without this

swapped isv with spare - had no change

Double check all your work. Probably just bumped into something. Idle control valve is what I'm thinking. Check it out. Good luck

Spark-air-fuel, makes fire, check engine is getting all of those.

Don't you just need to drop the trans for a clutch change? Unless you could not get to the flywheel for some reason? How "out" was the motor? On a stand out of car? Or just a few things disconnected still on mounts?

was only a little bit extra work to remove the whole engine/clean it off/fit new mounts.. :p

Would damaged wires at the back of the inlet manifold the ones that go round to the throttle body cause issues like this?

    cheers

Have you checked all fuses and relays?

Is it an immobiliser engine?? If you have a reader coil issue an engine will start and then cut out after 2 seconds.

These are the wires that probably go to the TPS, they often get hot and damaged due to the heat of the exhaust manifold, and yes, this may well cause the problem if they are damaged.
