Can anyone recommend where to source Garrett turbo cores? Struggling other than eBay :(

Sourced a gt1749vb that probably doesn't need but will get a rebuild - was a real good price.

Also got the n75 sent from same vehicle:)

Ok I found a chra and all seems good with it.

I've stripped the turbo and put the VNT to soak overnight so I can rebuild it tomorrow.

I have a section from the mk4 that houses the n75 and I think the n18 and anti shudder? Something like that anyway.

Is the n75 the far right item?

The bottom of it is white

Need some guidance as I'm not familiar with mk4 stuff. Thanks

Well I've checked the part numbers (easiest way) and this is the n75.

All I need to figure is which wire is which on d shape plug so I can rewire using my square mk3 plug

I could go trial and error but does anyone know?

Got ALL the soldering done today that has been posted about previously so happy with that.
Brake switch in, tach converter in, cruise stuff in.

I'm now struggling with routing the wiring around the pedal box as I've decided to run the main looms inside the car as opposed to under or in the rain tray.

What an effort at the fuse box end :(

pin 1 is the live and pin 2 the triggered earth on the PD. not that it matters which way round you wire it :)

A while ago I mentioned that there seemed to be a lot of play when I rattled the front road wheels. If held at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock they would rattle a little more than expected.

This week I had the column out to do a job and noticed that, with the steering lock engaged, I could still move the steering wheel about half and inch either way. Loads of play. The lower bearing looked knackered but would anything else cause this? Might strip it down for a look see if anything is bust. Hmmmm

rotation movement you mean? if so sounds more like an issue with the ignition lock and/or column tube, this is what stops the wheel moving after all. if you mean side to side then yeah look at the upper and lower bearings

    Sorry, yes, the rotation movement.
The inner column does rattle in the tube at the bottom so got a bearing to swap over. But I'm wondering if the rotational movement is just the normal amount for a 29 year old steering column and steering lock [:D]

For what it's worth I'll whip it off and strip it

Found it for a fairly reasonable price so happy with it. Easy cruising!

Tried looking at the a2 resources chart but can't find the answer - anyone tell me where the ground/earth at the back of the stereo leads? Only when I'd finished horsing the fuse box back in its place did I notice that this was flapping about without a home :(

For the CE2 fusebox it runs over and earths to the stud on the A pillar :)

you should be using this ;) not that it would have helped you find the stereo earth mind

Ok I have a plan on getting the car up and running again on the 150 turbo but wanted opinions as I don't want to damage anything.

    Pd150 turbo
AFN ecu demobilised and 'tuned' to 140bhp
    Stock Map sensor
    Stock injectors
    Stock clutch

Will it run ok like this if I go steady?
I just need to get mot'd and then I should be good to take for the vr clutch fitting and then the .280 injectors and tune to follow after.

    Any pointers much appreciated.
    Rich.

I would've thought it would be ok so long as you take it easy, I would leave the stock clutch in till it starts slipping as well the normal 228mm ones still pretty beefy. only thing is if they do a smoke test, dont you have to rev it hard to do that? diesels not my strong suit really

maybe start a new thread on it should see more replies I recon

No that's sound. I'll stick the same post on another thread I have going on the subject. I'm not sure how the smoke test works on older stuff, I thought very minimal although newer stuff is now to be completely smoke free of any colour :(

whatever tests are done is based on the age of the car or engine whatever is older, so it'll be the same as whatever tests are done on an 89 mk2 diesel. just not really sure what those are
