Ok so I have w1 yellow white wire
    Screenshot_20171024-114741.jpg

And its labelled up cruise spare and ends up near radio
    Screenshot_20171024-114744.jpg

Any ideas if there will be a plug or a wire near fuse box end of main harness to hook this upto?

I don't want to strip the wrapping back from ecu connector to trace it if possible. What pin on ecu does it go to?

the cut wire used to go to the stereo, it was for the speed sensitive volume control on the expensive aktiv system and is not needed for normal stereo. you can pull that wire out and use the TDI blue/white VSS ecu signal instead. If the loom is uncut you'll find it with a blue plug housign on the end. 3 choices:
    1. pop the mk2 wire out of the W plug, swap the mk3 wire in
    2. get a mk3 W plug with wire up to the blue VSS jumper above the fusebox, plug in MK3 wire
    3. chop mk3 plug off, crimp or splice a spade on to suit mk2 W spade connector housing

Its ECU pin 43 for the AHU and 1Z TDI engine :)

Found these hanging at fuse box end.
Is it the small blue plug? Swap this into w1 then.

I found another blue white that is g1/11
vss but this is for the cluster yes? So needs to stay untouched....

yep blue one is VSS, G1/11 is for the speedometer so you can just ignore it

green one is possibly the ignition live for the cruise stalk plug, chase it to source. if its pin 1 of a 4 pin plug, thats what its for :)

there will be a black/red wire as well off the ecu loom, this is brake lights on and shoudl go to W/4, but you can tap it direct to the brake light switch if you're using a mk4 golf 4 pin switch instead of 2 mk3 2 pin brake switches

Yeah I'm thinking the later mk4 brake switch but might still use 2 from the doner car. Unsure on that one just yet.
Thanks for the help so far.

Progress is slower than I'd like but creeping in

bingo! my diagram says it should be black but took an educated guess

It would go to one of the mk3 jumper blocks above the fusebox, fed from D/11. D/9 would work too. If you check your D plug you may have a spare black wire poking out with an empty plug in it, if so you can swap the wire out of the green plug then plug it into the mk2 wire

Nice one. I'll be having soundproofing fitted soon so once that's in I can crack it all off in one. Hoping to have motor in this weekend and have it running just to keep me happy!

This is what I have on the corrado pedal box...
    Screenshot_20171024-140712.jpg

And with 1 brake light switch in...
    Screenshot_20171024-140719.jpg

I think I may just file notches in the top hole to allow for a switch. Just need to find the plug for the second switch now [:s] lol

the plug you have fitted there is for the cruise brake switch, the other switch loom you can use the old mk2 stuff its on plug E to the fusebox

Oh right! I just had it marked as brake switch when I removed from the mk3.
I have a mk2 brake switch I'll dig out and find the plug for it

Haha! Come to think of it, I won't have removed the mk3 BRAKE switch plug as I didn't take that wiring from mk3. I just took engine harness/ light harness and fuel gauge and obd stuff.
I'll find it in the mk2 stuff [:D]

Wonder if they made a switch that is threaded on the other side so it can fit in that top hole with a nut on the back? Hmmmm

Just been looking and it was called a vent valve I believe.
Yeah to be fair it's definitely the best route. Any idea from what year mk4 golf?

no not the older type, thats for the vacuum cruise system. i mean the more modern ones, ibiza mk3 the shape with the 20vt engine in.

any mk4 with cruise will have the 4 pin switch I believe, if you go this route better to just buy it new as the newest design is revised so its much easier to fit. 1C0945511A RDW, 11.94+VAT :)

Awesome cheers John. Can I just spade up the existing ends and fit to this switch then? Also a random one but will later mk2 door cards fit type 19 doors? Selling some and the buyer is unsure.

for the seat switch its got a weird plug with spades in, so simple enough.

if you want the mk4 one i would pull the plug off a donor and chase loom back as far as possible and snip off. splice the mk4 black/red to mk2 black/red, red/brown to mk2 red/yellow, other 2 wires you can probably depin and swap the mk3 pins over, iirc the mk3 plug terminals are the same as the mk4. if not, cut n splice. (well, I would put new pins on the mk2 wires and fit to the mk4 plug, but thats just my wiring OCD ;))

the mk3 ecu black/red goes to W/4, or you can tap it into the black/red on the switch direct. Since plug E doesn't feed anything else in the car it is no problem to have it hard spliced onto your engine loom :)

and yes the later cards swap over, iirc you may need to trim them slightly to clear the glass pillar, burt apart from that dimensions all the same
