Well it is about time I put some pics up of my green thing.
This car came in to my ownership over 10 years ago when I started Autocrossing. It just happened to be in the garage yard at the time, so that is how it all began.

It initially just got completely stripped out so there was not much more than a seat, harness and engine to compete in the Autocross events. It was originally that dark silver / grey colour with some rust spots. Structurally ok though. It was a 1.6 8v carb model.
So it had a few years of Autocross which it served me well with plenty silverware.

I then wanted to go to Rallycross which is a whole different kettle of fish. Work started getting it prepared for this but the planned events at Knockhill never took off due to a number of reasons. Got a bit scunnered about that so it just got used for track days. Various mods were done to improve aspects of how it went and handled.
This is no money pit or fancy machine. My whole interest in it is just a bit of fun and engineering exercise. If you want to see bling and shiny motorsport parts, this is not for you.
It has been cobbled together with what ever was lying around in a scrap heap challenge stylee.
The satisfaction of building something for pennies and being quicker round the circuit than far more expensive modern cars is what I like.

So now it's time for another transformation. The 16v engine is now getting evicted for a new and better power source. ;)

Here a few pics as it gets pulled apart.

What I'm liking about the Scirocco is it was silver to start with.

By painting the outside green, it creates the impression of a chosen internal build colour, along the lines of a proper RML BTCC Vectra:

Blinging motorsport scene crime, albeit accidentally!

So that's today's motorsport scene tip: buy a car in the right inside base colour to start with

Will try to get the pics of cups scanned at some point too. All won with 8v power by the way. The prizes dried up when I changed to that infernal 16v (baby anchor). [:^(]

So what your saying is you have a surplus to requirements 16v engine that would bolt up lovely into another carb'd Scirocco.......? ;)

Yes, that was some of the stuff I was selling last week. Plenty 16v stuff left though. [:$]

Not been at Knockhill since late last year due to my house renovation task.
Decided to have a little change of plans engine wise, so having a clear out to make a little room to work in the shed. But I can still can barely see the floor. [:$]

You are from down Fife way iirc? Do you go to Knockhill yourself?

How far off's the new powerplant?

Any scope for some engine bay smoothing before it goes in? [:p]
