they are hideously heavy arent they, Im thinking of removing the ribs from the VR bonnet and cutting away sections of the outer skin and replacing it with ally mesh, no idea what itll look like but Ive got to cut out some weight and Im not spending a fortune on a carbon bonnet.

Mk2 bonnet used to flap about at the front like tissue paper, I left the second skin I at the rear so it sealed against the bulkhead to stop fumes from getting in the car, made me feel sick as a dog after 40 mins without the seal

I've used the weigh bridge at work of which it's been certificated and highly accurate (so they say). My Mk1 (stripped interior but caged, with floor mounted buckets, all standard with nearly a full tank and 15" steels) came in at 800kgs with a tolerance of +/- 20kgs. No driver (add about 50kgs for me).

I could easily get some weight off by getting rid of the gack under the carpets, dropping the inner skins and fitting polys, removing the dash and bits like rear wiper and motor, and thats before I start with the drill and looking at lightweight bits.

I'll be interested to see what the 205 weighs when that is finished as A) its made from tin foil and recycled kits kat wrappers and B) its for track use only, so much lightening, including panels de-loomed, no inner skins, no heater matrix, carbon seat, polys, etc.

mk1 and other race car weights

had the car corner weighted over the weekend. in it's 99% complete state it tipped the scales at 671kg. got a few more things to go in so reckon i'll still be sub 700kg.

i remember jellys car was 660kg all in.

anyone got any other car weights to compare?
