Has anyone got any proven data from switching from KR cams to ABF cams (without mixing inlet/exhaust) in an otherwise std 1.8 KR engine with WUR set?

I've read near every post on ABF cams and it all seems like conflicting info with seat of the pants evaluation and no back to back dyno info.

Will be looking into this when I get back from hols as it's been suggested to me the ABF's will perform well with a mild port.

    TIA

ok, maybe back to back dyno plots was a tall ask.

Has anyone any experience on using ABF cams in a KR? And would there be any issues with the higher lift?

Don't think the lift will be an issue - you can buy aftermarket cams with higher lift. I saw a post from Toyotec suggesting that ABF cams would work better in a KJet car than the KR ones. I'd tend to back his judgement.

ABF has a lot more lift on the inlet side (10.8 vs 9.6mm?)

    ABF Cams:

Intake Cam: Duration 219 deg @ 1mm, 10.8mm maximum valve lift

Exhaust Cam: 220 deg @ 1mm, also 10.8mm maximum valve lift

    Versus KR cams:

    Intake: Duration: 218 @ 1mm, 9.6mm lift

    Exhaust: Duration: 226 @ 1mm, 10.21mm lift

I'd like to try this but my friend has suggested a mild port and slight skim to increase the static CR a bit. More than I'd like to spend right now but it will be done before xmas.

Well the ABF cams are here, did a RR session a few months ago with the stock KR cams, timing was a bit too far advanced at the time so figs weren't what I expected with having the WUR done. Will hopefully get the sticks in over xmas and get back on the rollers in the new year.

Good question mate. The only thing stopping me doing it myself is my problem with inertia, that and a smaller torque wrench that will do the baring caps to 20Nm. Will have it done in Jan and on the rollers soon after.

looking at those stats on the cams surely an ABF inlet cam and a KR exhaust would be a good mix? with a port and polished head - 350 exchange from www.cncheads.co.uk should make for a nice bit of extra go

Halfords professional 3/8 torque wrench won the recent group test in "Car Mechanic", and can go down to something really low like 8Nm, or whatever.

Don't trust that fella, he's been in my garage and thrown my tools everywhere. Then went into my immaculate kitchen and messed it all up.[8(]
