i'm thinking of having a solid front mount made by the same engineering company that are re-drilling my hubs to 5 stud for me.

i've got a pic of one so they should be able to knock one up in steel quite easily don't you think?

Better than spending 130 on a vibratech - which is part rubber anyway.

Love the way that Vibratech say it's a 'solid' mount, when clearly, it's not :)

i've heard that they aren't as bad as people think.

Can't get an engine mount more solid than that bad boy!

The front cross memeber is rubber bushed to the chassis legs anyway, so it wont be as bad as you might expect ;)

I have Vibratechnics all round on mine, and coupled with Powerflex bushes on the front crossmember you can feel vibration in the cabin at tickover. Once underway it's OK though.

I'd be interested to experience one fitted with a solid front mount - must be aweful.

Anyway, why do you need a solid front mount in a road car? OK, if you're gonna track it regularly I can see why, but.....

For a road car I'd just get a brand new 1.3 Golf solid rubber front mount from VW and be done. More than up to the job and a fraction of the the price.

By the time you write a cnc program, Buy the material(HE30),Book a slot on the cnc machine, Tap threads and buy bolts. I think 65 is very reasonable.

if you know someone who works in a machine shop it would not really be that difficult.

A solid lump of cast iron would be adequate for the job, and the dimensions can be easily found.

remember its about who you know, not always what you know in this game ;)

A good machinist like our very own Dave22222222222277777777777777 should be able to knock that up in a jiffy, given dimensions....
