ok thermostat from dealers is 20 and will come in tomorrow morning which is no good as I wont be able to work on the car till Monday evening. GSF is around 8 and I will most probably get that today so I could get it fitted this evening.

are the gsf one really crp and should I definetly stay away. Its just that it would be nice to get the new stat in and test the car over the weekend.

If the fan is coming on, don't bother changing the fan switch.

Did you try swapping the sender yet? Maybe clean out the oil cooler? Take the rad off and backflush it with a hose?

Im going to pick up a new rad for 27+vat it was cheap so thought Id change it anyway. Have not changed the sender yet only reason being is because both water temp and oil temp correlate. How do I clean out the oil cooler as I have noticed one of the small pipes had a bit of coolant crust on the end of it, no sign of leaking but just a bit of crust.
