    Hi,
I have tried using the search function but it seems to be on the blink again...
I've heard of using 2 KR exhaust cams rather than the stock Inlet and exhaust cams...
Has anyone done this... any info?

Ive done it,aswell as smithy gvk etc involves gettin a zorst cam, cutting it down to same length as inlet cam then obtain a very rare and mystical part known as a hotgolf chainwheel  ;)
Mod gives alot better lowdown pull and generally stronger throughtout the rev range!

I'll post 2 plots of mine with and without the exhaust cam mod, see if Flusted's statement rings true. [:s]

Ok, it's not 'just' the cams that have been changed inbetween these two plots, the Jetex 2.5" exhaust fitted has gained midrange on similar cars and the head is a ported KR item rather than the stock 9A head on the 171bhp plot.

Only advantage there is the exhaust cam holds onto the torque for a few hundred rpm more at the top end.

Maybe the mod works better on a KR than on a 2 litre.

Compare mine and GVK's and i would say stick with KR's!
I'm RED GVK is BLUE. I'm on KR's he is on twin zorst cams. He is on 42mm manifold. I'm on 50.

    ABF develops torque differently, though...

True, very true. Vince @ Stealth said the same when we compared those graphs.

From what i've been seeing it looks like the exhaust cam mod doesnt give the same gains in the 2 litres as it does on KR's. It transformed the low down power on my KR. My mates standard KR feels very flat low-mid range compared to mine now.

    Hmmm,
    I have a 6A motor (2.0 16V) and a couple of KR's aswell so I have bits...
What exactly is involved in fitting the exhaust cam?
Oh, I'll be running the 50mm inlet manifold.

i Spose where the 1800 feels flat till 4k,when youve fitted the zorst cam you notice it more because you have lowdown pull where you probaly already have that on a 2l
If i jump in my parents standard 16v 1800 it feels extremely slow lowdown compared to my rado

Also,i know a few people that go the kr inlet cam on 9a 2l and they say it makes quite a difference so surely fitting a zorst cam has got to be better than a 9a/6a inlet?

I've bumped a few threads about the ex-in-cam mod for you. They'll be in the 1st couple of pages in this forum.

Cossie paul has has his car setup at vinces last week, jammi toss_er got 193bhp with feck all done to it !

6a, 2x exhaust flowed kr head.

Interestingly the guys who did the head produced before and after flow charts from their flow bench. Massive gains (something daft like 48% !!) over standard and something that not many people produce these days !

I Can feel a few more tweeks coming on !

yeah ive heard that just changing the inlet cam to a KR job on a 9A gives u an axtra 25ish bhp straight off.

Also tubs and GVK how come u guys arent running schrick cams or something similar. Am i missing the point of running KR cams or is it just the money factor preventing you. Do the KR cams give more torque or better driveability. Just im doing my 9A soon and i wanna decide what cams to put in so i can send them with the head and manifolds when i get them ported etc.

    That's a strong engine B!

Did he say he gets the heads done by Cylinder head developments or was it Autosprint?

    He did tell me [:s]

As far as i know it was Howards in slough - took ages but hell it was worth it !!

DubDude - i use schricks and can't fault 'em, although there has been a few instances of them not producing what people expected ...
