VR VR VR VR it will fit in my car...... Repeat until dizzy............... With turbo kits coming in at 1500 and 400bhp it cheap ponies......who needs 20Vs
Dont be quick to knock 4 cylinders chappies , I would hazard a guess thas most of you have made the progression to 6 tubes. You will be knocking the Berg Cup cars next, alot of those are 4 cyl 1.6Li Play nice !
anyone ever made a 7 cyl ? cannot think of one 2 cyl - 2CV 3 cyl - jappo town cars 4 cyl loads 5 cyl - VW V5 and audi straight 5 6 cyl - loads 7 cyl..........
Big up the V8 massive ! So then gary when you coming to pick up the 20v, same as before pop in for a cuppa and stay a bit too long ?!!
Rob, do not know of a 7 cyl, well not until I rip off one of Barny's plug leads off the Range Rover anyway.
Can't see anyone choosing to design a 7 cyl engine, it would be an exercise in futility. An inline one would be too long to fit in anything, and an uneven V engine is the kind of silly idea only VW would have
Well there have been a few straight 8s in the past so ata mere 7 cyls length need not be a factor. Cant think of a 7cyl car, but perhaps in plane engines there are, they've made all sorts with radial engine layouts.
10 pages too late, but i would have guessed the shards were from one or more of the bearings, seen a similar failure in a friends 20XE. big ends had squished out the sides of the con rod like a tub of utterly butterly ! also, removing the crank counter weights wont upset the balancing. its not he crank weight that counters the piston and rod, the piston and rod next door at 180 degrees opposition does. real shame about the failure gary, i can sympathise myself. like the time one trumpet bolt came loose and got sucked into my engine, jamming between the valve and seat, lol. i see youre going to make a fresh start rather than ressurect the engine. fair enough, look forward to the next installment
Bugatti made plenty of straight-8's, and some marine diesel engines are 7 cylinder....... a mine of useless information, me.
