i have a complete a3 1.8t and am thinking about stripping it and fitting it to my mk2 16v. spoke to few peeps and i ideally want to run it on standard management as i dnt want to go for all out power and will be looking to run it around the 200bhp mark.... wot are the pros and cons of using the oem managment?? would it be better to go for a stand alone system - such as dta>?? any help from peeps that have done this conversion would be helpful....also wot r u running on ur's??? cheers guys in 2 minds at the moment as to repair the a3 or split it....need to get it off the missus' drive.....
i wouldnt bother with aftermarket management unless you want big power. if you only want 200bhp, stick with oem.
btw; if you could repair the A3, and sell it to make more than 1500 in profit, do that, and buy another 20vT, and use the rest of the money for the other bits you need for the conversion. :-)
Cos many people couldnt or want to live with the massive tyre wear and traction problems that a huge power engine may end up producing. For some 200bhp would be perfect, and using OEM which you already have would cut cost Thats why
errrr because anyone more than 220bhp through the front wheels in my opinion is just sutpid!!so if u ever get round to doing a engine conversion....U FIT A CORSA ENGINE!!
20vt in a mk2 is half a job according to golf lad 69! lol.....dnt make me laff........so wot r u planning to put into ur's .....let me guess...a rocket engine that runs on methonal!!!! lol lol....
ATTENTION EVERYBODY Here's a prime lesson in how to appear stupid whether you are or not. the text talk just polishes it off nicely for me tt
TT has spoken OEM and aftermarket are good for big power just both have disadvantages and advantages all down to your preference and wot you want, you just have to build a car that handle the power
golflad nutter 4x4 and TT both have 400bhp+ golf [well sometimes eh Stephen] so they KNOW what they are on about.
even valver power can be a handful if the rest of the car is not up to it, make sure it is all rebushed, with good springs and dampers and at least 280mm brakes
and massive wheels! so they must be cool! but back to the subject, run the OEM managment, makes life a little easier and doesn't dent your pocket so hard!
well then you will understand people wanting a cheap and easy route to 200+bhp. There is no point in getting the most out of a 20v if you only have a fwd IMHO. 280bhp is more than enough (stock 225 revo'd to 280) Im going to run aftermarket on mine, as the spec never stays still for longer than 5 mins
