Should I point out one of the best (and rarest) Golf Mk2 models? The Golf Limited was actually VW's fastest Golf model prior to the R32 being introduced and shock! horror - it had 5 doors!!!!!

Spec was 1.8 (209bhp) G60 supercharged engine and 4wd - all in a discreet black 5dr shell, the perfect Q car. I think that ends the 3/5dr argument.

To add insult to injury. I have owned both and think that the whole 3dr accessibility thing makes them a boy racer option only. 5dr models offer more room, better access and better options when it comes to engaging females in car related activities (and I don't mean shopping!). I'm currently rocking a shabby 89 5dr 1.8 carbed Golf Syncro.

Already fitted a Weber, Jetta front end and '90 spec bumpers.

The kit and a 40mm drop are happening next week. Rim choice is up in the air ATM but this Photoshop image is potentially where I am hoping to be next year...

Bought it a month ago for 400 with spare diff, box and VC. Minor issues but nothing thats disuaded me from the practicality and pointability of a 4wd 5dr.

I'd totally forgotten about this thread!! I last posted about 18 months ago on it and it's still going!?!

I recently got a Corrado, so naturally not 5 doors. However, such is the superiority of the mighty 5 door, I chose to keep my old 5 door mk2. Practicality rules OK.
