My mate has just been out to the audi factory in germany on some exchange thing, he said they got a tiny peak at the new TT even though they weren't supposed to.
The 150 FWD TTR is still available, as is the 3.2 V6 but Audi have dropped the 225bhp angine and upped the 180's power to 190bhp. God knows why when the 225 is the best of the bunch and the Mk 2 TT is still a while away. The suspension/spoiler mods were done in Spring 2000, early car were recalled to the factory then for retro-fitting of ESP, boot spoiler and revised front wishbones (2000 model spec). Apparently the aero-dynamics of the car made it prone to lift-off oversteer at high speed, not good on tight, downhill bends on the Autobahns. I think a couple of journalists were killed on a road test, prompting action.
What about the special stripped out 'sport' version which features a half-roll cage, lightweight carbon seats and a 240hp 1.8t engine!? The 1.8t engines are now 190hp with the 3.2 engines pumping out 250hp
