Chaps, it's been a while since I was on here, although I was thinking about the Club GTI forum the other day, and thought I'd log on and see how things have been in the last few years?

Can someone update me on what's been going on in a few sentances? GVK still pounding around the ring in his MK2? Golden still giving good tech advice? Rich kill himself in his 20VT blue mk2?

    Give me the highlights!

    Cheers.

Its a long story but there was a big "divide" and Rich went to another forum along with a few others like Golden etc. Pretty much all the ones that caused trouble so clubgti is now a better place for it:)

still got the coupe at the moment, but have stepped into a Porker for my sins!

    Hairdresser? That's a Cayman S, not a boxster! I do enjoy a manicure though, so I'm just semi-ghey!

    So is phatty still moaning?

nice pic GVK! I will be taking it to a few tracks in the UK, not sure if I have the balls to chuck it around the ring till I'm confident with the mid engine handling!

I love the Pie & Piston section oh PH, there's a fair few funny bastids on there!

Jon, Porsche is definately many steps up for me - it still feels wierd driving it around to be honest. Like someone else is supposed to be driving it, not me! Sure it'll become normal after a while. Still not brave enough to turn the traction/stability off in the wet on the roads, it cut in and stopped me going sideways last night twice! Once in front of Buckingham palace (there's no grip on that surface in the wet!)!

Cayman is a different beast to a Boxster (especially an old 986, good cars but based on a lot older technology compared to the 987 range - was made in 1996 don't forget) - next time you go to the porsche garage with your dad, have a look at the Cayman brochure or one in the flesh - it's more focused in terms of being a drivers car etc.... A 300bhp Cayman S isn't on the same planet as a 986 Boxster ;)

Has your dad got a non S 997, or an S? 2wd or 4wd? I don't see many other options apart from a 911 for my next car, not sure on which model (although budget will determine that when I come to change I'm sure). Prob either a C2S or a GT3 if I can stretch to one. 999 may even be out by then, look forward to seeing how that will look!

So you driving a Lupo or that Corrado?

Cool, I did 45k in mine over less than 4 years, no major probs for me either apart from standard radiator and oil cooler replacement, also injector rail got clogged, and that's it. As reliable as my MK3 GTI to be honest, which was a shock!

Good cars for the performance and cost though, as long as you're lucky and treat them right - they can deliver!
