mk2 here. mk1 would get the vote, except for the far greater chance of being rusty / bent / expensive to fix when something goes wrong.

another mk2 vote, i've had a mk1 GTI tracdk car first but the shell got beyond reasonable repair so switched to a mk2 16v.

cheap to buy a 16v, junk the interior, drop in a 9A/ABF on the k-jet and slap on some eibach ARB's, great track car for very little money,

cheap and easy to buy spares/replacement panels for, or if you do stack it a new shell can be bought easily.

    I'd say a mk2.

Pick one up for peanuts. Easy to get second hand spares for (I'm thinking body panels etc) and parts be dead cheap too.

    i went for a rallye,

after doing out in Dubvelopments 20v T rallye is bloody awsome...and will be bigger and better this year.

0-60 in 4.3 secs, 13.4 1/4 mile sill fast around thr track and still waiting for handling mods

i the track car depends on how much you want to spend [:D]

    I voted mk2 as well....

The mk1 is quicker with the same kind of mods (2L 16v etc etc..) but its hard to find a good one for little money & then there is the problem with parts availability if you do ding it...

The mk2 is cheap & cheerful, & relatively cheap to mod for track use & the standard brakes are superior to the mk1s..

    Hi
I would have mk1 golf if they were more readily available as with most,

but mk2 golf is a good choice, becos i wouldnt be so fussed about it getting knackered,

    It's a 4x4 or different engine?

If it's a 4x4 it's less powerful, heavier and more transmission losses than the mk2

    [:$]

My bro informs me that it isn't a 4x4. Although he has one of those too.

Its a 1.6 stripped, caged with 3.1 scorpio engine. Was 2.9 but bored and tuned.

It sounds like a nascar [8D]

Dont have anymore details other than it doesn't take to kindly to accl mid bend [><]

No need to be sarcastic, your rapid and my rapid are obviously different ;)

I used to own a Sierra XR4x4 anyways :) One of the only cars I've ever sold for a profit [:s]
