finally got the last of the rounded nuts off and removed my vr6's head, but then didn't realise the chain runner stuck out the bottom of the head and snapped it as i put the head down on a bench! [:x]
cheapest place to get them from?

oh, and i forgot to undo the dipstick tube from the inlet, and its come out the block..looks like it just pushes back in. can anyone confirm this?

also, realised i don't need a new hose, as the old one split right near the end, so i can just cut it down and put it back on right?

yeah, but then you spent over 1k tuning an 8v, when it would have been a lot easier to buy a 16v!

its bolted to the right hand side of the head, inside the chain housing, when you pick the head up it comes with it, but hangs down below a bit, so if you just put the head down on the bench without removing it it'll get broken.

bolts are about 15 from GSF.

make sure youre head gasket set is a Reintz one. the elring ones are poo.

or you could buy a mk4 12v vr6 head gasket and raise the compression to 10.5:1 like I am.

whats the advantage of the mkIV one, and does it need other mods as well?

it's thinner, raises the compression, that's all. no other mods needed.
