Note the word highlighted in my quote. VW stopped usding the 2.5 TDi in the passat range 3 years ago.

The supercharged 1.4 in the Golf GT kicks out 170bhp.

It is impressive but I wouldn't have one - Sounds like someone's thrown a bag of nails into the cylinders.

I've got a 2001 TDV6 passat (only FWD though) and it's IMHO at least brilliant! 180bhp I belive although looking at the Parkers thing above it might be 160? ether way it pulls really well from about 1k rpm all the way to the red line.

Sailed from Cardiff to Coed -y-brenin last weekend at 85 with a couple of MTB's on the roof and 40mpg.

so there is the chance that the original poster was in an R32 engined Passat and thought it was a diesel? [:D]

I'm sure the Pheaton was the only vw saloon / estate that came with both 4motion and v6 tdi. But hell I've been wrong before and lord knows I be wrong again.

Theres definately a Passat V6 Tdi, and im pretty sure it came in 4 motion guise. I will check my mass of old whatcars!

Edit: There was a 2.5 V6 Passat TDI, 160bhp standard, 9.6 sec 0-60, however, it was front wheel drive. No 4 Motion, there was a 1.9 TDI PD 4 Motion though.

    So there ye go! [:D]

I think they only did a FWD version of the V6 TDi.

It seems that the 4Motion version was only the 1.9TDi.

yeah, would def need something more than a remap

audi map it to 180 as standard for the a6/a8, but thats still 60hp short / <30%!

I think someone should just get a V10 Diesel out of a touareg and drop it into something small, like Mk1/2 sized. That would be hilarious!

The V10 TDI weighs a HUGE amount (V10 TDI Touraeg is 200kgs heavier than the V8 petrol!)so it might be a wee bit heavy...

just to put things a bit straighter ....and im no mechanic but i think know the difference between petrol and diesel [:-B]
the car in question is a 2002 Passat 180 brake
if it is an R32 "PETROL" then why does it run on DIESEL...unless im being silly and the R32 is really a diesel:clap:

he has recipts for 1600 quid covering upgraded injectors etc , the guy before him had it running at 245 bhp but it kept blowin off hoses ....so he had the boost turned down to compensate , the last time i was in something that quick it was my mates 4wd cossie ....and that was a long time ago . Its deffo a v6 and deffo a 4 motion . the guy that now owns it is a mechanic , think he just might know what he`s got ;)
