No, they are machined for odd sized inner/outer bearings.

Worth a shot! Can MK2 rear discs accept MK3 / MK4 ABS rings by any chance? I have 2 pairs of MK4 discs with abs rings and 2 pairs of MK2 discs without abs rings...

    You mean hubs?

if so, I think the Mk2 hubs will need machining to relieve a bit of room for the Mk4 reluctor rings.

I mean on the back discs, the rings clip onto the inside of the discs over the inner bearing

mk2 has the option of abs, so yes mk2/3 rear abs rings straight fit :)

And do MK4 ones fit John or are they a different size?

yes they do, the MK2/3 ABS ring has been superceeded by the MK4 golf one 1J0614149

there is a note in ETKA for the MK4 ring though which says 'also use 1H0501639' which appears to be a modified dust cover for use with ABS :)

Johnny - i'm pretty sure I'm already running 280mm discs albeit 4x100. Have early mk3 golf calipers up front.

Bit more checking what fits what and the sizes of everything......

Spline length is same - only outer shape of cv housing different and bolt/nut obviously.

Perfect I can rob the ones from the MK4 and whack em on the MK2 discs. Would MK4 6 speed outer CVs fit onto shortened DSG shafts? I use the 108mm outers and they fit into the VR6 hubs

I am looking to fit 5-stud Mk3 hubs into my existing Mk2 knuckles.

Can anyone comment on the compatibility of redrilled 4-stud disc (current G60 Mk2) with caliper offset on a Mk2 knuckle? (running my existing Mk3 280mm brake calipers/carriers).

I read somewhere that one guy had to machine some metal out of the back mounting face of his disc, although in the end I was confused about what actual combination of parts he was using?

If I *did* go for 5-stud, then I ask the same question about the fitment of Passat VR6 discs (357 615 301 A) to 5-stud hubs installed into Mk2 knuckles, again running my existing Mk3 280mm brake calipers/carriers.

I'm resisting going full widetrack at present, and also want to go 4-stud as I have some restored hard to find compomotive M06's in 16"/4x100 i'd like to use.

I had to remove some material to fit the VR6 hubs and then redrill my 4-stud G60 discs. . can't comment on the calipers as I have Girling 54s from a Corrado G60

Where did you remove the material?

    Golf VR6 hubs?

    Mk3 280mm calipers are essentially G60 Golf/Rado I believe.

    Cheers!

Ever so slight on the inside of the discs, part of the casting as the diameter of the hub flange is a tad bigger. Yeah GTI or VR6 hubs.

You'll have the exact same setup as mine, my hubs are dual drilled too!

Cheers for confirming - that's clear now then - the hub is bigger diameter, presumably to accept the larger bolt holes.

Dual-drilling means using the 12mm bolts for both 5 and 4 stud applications, and drilling your wheels out a tad, I presume?

Yep it's barely anything just on the very edges of the recess where the hub fits the disc. Maybe 1-2mm max each side. Then I redrilled the discs and used bigger holes (16.5mm as this is the only size I had over 12mm!) And drilled out the existing 4 stud holes as well, though there is a slight bit of overlap. If in doubt get a machine shop to do it. I used M14 bolts as used on the VR6 and every VW from MK4 onwards, so have the 5 M14 holes and another 3 to bring me to 4x100 and 5x100

Got my mini press put into action today.

Have a pair of Caddy 2k front hubs left over from the conversion project, so I figured i'd rob the reluctor rings off the bearings.

Once pushed out, the inner race from the outer bearing is fitted with the ring, as can be seen.

Just a matter of finding a tube that just fits over the inner race, and then pressing gently to release it.
