I'm changing my Mk2 16v next weekend for one of the above.

To buy the Corrado and bring it up to the spec I want will Cost 4k plus part-exing my Golf

Or I can buy an 80k-mile UK N/M plate Impreza Turbo for the same money

    They're the same insurance group

I'm not fussed about fuel economy because I've still got my Company Car.
The Subaru will be soooo much faster on the very wet, Welsh lanes I live around.
But the Corrado is so much better looking.

Anyone owned both of the above, any opinions gratefully received.

Corrado VR6 with Rallye running gear seem the perfect solution :p

Personally at the lowwer end of the subaru market I prefer the legacy turbo, had an estate & it was really ace on the winter roads- if a bit woeful on juice- not much worse than my VR6 Golf tho I guess.

Also the scoobys that age have probably had quite a hard life by now.

I would like to say get the scooby but i find myself drawn to the rado vr6.

Why exactly? Didn't Scoobdoo win the old JD Power survey like 30 times?
As long as it's got a history, it'll be more reliable than the VR...
    oooh, controversial!

    Still the 'Rado though...

If you play hard don't scoobies eat their clutches in 12k.

    Just a thought.

i've voted scooby, but that before i read the post.

don't get a scooby unless its '97 on, the early ones aren't half as good. plus, as stated already the cost mega bucks to fix, so you really have to get a perfect low mileage example. service costs are also pricey, especially the 40k service i think, its like 600 at least. get a ru down of service costs before you even consider buying one, so you know what you're letting yourself in for.

having said that, if you can afford to buy a later one and run it, they really are fabulous cars. i know the 'rado is a fine car, but the subaru really is leagues ahead of anything vw will ever offer.

Has to be the scooby, the noise alone is worth it :pAlthough the corrado does look the part I would take great satisfaction wiping the smile of a coupe drivers face with an ugly (not in my opinion)four door saloon!

yeah dont get the old scooby. if it was between a new scoob or saving money by buying a corrado, no contest! but as it is, corrado has to win.

like said above, could always get some rallye running gear mated up to it for the 4wd [:D]

One's a beautiful coupe, filled with character that makes a fantastic noise.

The other is a souless box of electronics that looks like a cross between a kids drawing of a car and the cover of Max Power.

    Not much to decide really.

You can burn the clutch out completely in one very hard start from the lights dependent upon the power and how hard you leap off the clutch.

Corrado if i wanted a classic and to save money, and not be called a tossa as every lil rich boy has a scooby!

Scooby if i wanted a 'real' drivers car as they are sublime to drive. Not as quick as you would expect in uk turbo form but unreal to drive [:D]

Aren't you confusing the Impreza Turbo with the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo? ;) Bags of soul in the Impreza, and no more electronics than the Corrado!

 for the Scooby, provided you can afford to buy a good 'un and, more importantly afford to run it!

    VR6 Vs Subaru = VR6
