Sunroof broke - typical! Leo GS on FB supplied me a mk3 unit and I had sourced a B4 Passat glass roof to go with it as it suits the contour of the corrado roof.

The most expensive part was the new seal for the glass panel!

Also I had previously retrimmed the headlining myself back in 2019 ( I still haven't cut that seal down to size opps)

And fast foward to today. It's going into Stealth again next month for

    - 288mm brakes (refurb'd by Bigg Red)
    - Flexi lines
    - New hubs and wheel bearings (preventative)
    - Install a new radiator

I've got my hands full with work and other car projects and just want this one done for Summer..

Some pictures of the car as it sits today

Just had a read of your complete thread. Well done mate. A massive effort from you has kept this one going. We are all in the same boat but you know you have something special

Thanks Cressa - your own Corrado is just if not more impressive!

You're right though - we are all in the same boat. As these motors get older, including our beloved Mk2s (and Mk3s for me) they all need attention. I've done alot more myself and sourced second hand parts on the mk3 and it's not cost me anywhere near as much. I need to start that thread soon.

There is stuff I have missed as can't find the photos. I repaired the brake switch that goes in the master cylinder for example.

I have treated myself for my birthday - LHD Corrado gauges to be married up with the RHD trim a guy called Ed on the facebook group 3d printed.

That's an incredible amount of work you got stuck with there but nicely done with the end result and for saving it. Defo a keeper!

Thanks! Yeah it has been a lot. Off to stealth tomorrow for:

    288 caliper fit
    Braied lines with 288 connections

New hubs and bearings up front

    New radiator (obsolete now)

    New top mounts

Alignment and exhaust fettle as hits beam

I could do some myself but Vince sets up the alignment really nice on the Corrado so getting a few bits done. Plus I am pretty busy with my mk2 and mk3 - both up in the air at home!

Been to Stealth for a few odds and sods - main one being the brake upgrade and new flexi lines fitted. I have also gone back to the 15s to get use out of tyres and also fitted some spacers (15mm front, 20mm rear). To be fair it drives better on them but maybe not a fair comparison as I don't think the 16s were balanced properly.

Headlight covers out of necessity rather than choice. Cracked an incidator the other day. I've bought some spare broken fogs to swap out for plastic lenses from Corrado Farm Parts to save my good glass fogs on the car and also save me from bankruptcy at having this replace them.

Very nice car and tasty upgrades! How do you find the new 288mm brakes compared with the previous setup? I am going trough the same proces only I jump to 312mm because the 280mm corado vr6 setup cannot stop the car properly! So got some mk1 TT speedline alloys (16”x7”) and will try them on the car with some 195/50/16 tyres… I was trying to get some toyo proxes r888 in 195/45/16 but they are unobtainium and even in 195/50/16 are very dear- about 150 quid a corner ?! 6E522BFC-5F84-4328-975B-E51EB862DB81.jpeg

Nice mate. The 288s are an upgrade - i think it is something to do with how the pad designed so although it is only 8mm more the benefit is greater than that as more surface areas of the 288s hit the disc compared to the 280s.

I don't drive it particulary hard so difficult to say for sure. I only really did the upgrade becuase my 280s needed a refurb (sticky at last MOT) and they'll fit my mk2 under the BBS RAs with a small spacer which also could do with a refreshed calipers too!

For me on the Corrado I run 205/45/16 but believe they would rub on a mk2 which needs 195. My tyres were 85 a corner (AVON ZX7 - has a retro tyre tread pattern). What about a Nankank NS-2R for you - about £110 per corner for a semi slick?

Thanks for feedback, I did hope the larger brakes will feel better, as you noticed there is more surface swept by the pads on 288/312mm brakes and later hp2 calipers have even larger pistons so they can clamp the disc with more force !! I didn’t try the Nanking slicks, I am very happy with the Nankang supersport tyres I have on my exeo but they wear on the shoulder quickly and in some sawtooth pattern which makes noise !

Interesting I have an Exeo as well - rare car too. This car sort of proves I don't drive that hard - owned it since it had 3,240 miles on it now at 88k and my front brake pads are only 65% worn lol.

Now, if you take the calipers from the exeo and fit them on the 288 carrier...
@Joe_Pineapples told me about this, and I'm kicking myself as chucked my old b7 calipers when went s4 upgrade. But you get 57mm piston compared to 54mm standard. He's a genius.

That's a good idea. Had not even thought about the B7 chassis car being a place for upgrades for our other VWs! This one is a 170ps so has the bigger brakes (312). The 140s had 288s

B6/b7 has the larger carrier mounts to upright, but if use the 288 or 312 carriers off a golf, tt etc it will fit the audi calipers.
The b7 I had I put the big brakes on it, same as mk5 on golf platform for calipers but tend to be cheaper.

I went from 288mm to 312mm then upgraded to audi ceramic calipers and 330mm brake discs. They fit well under my ABT a26 split rim alloys but they needed 5mm spacers to clear spokes on the d3 s8 wheels…I felt the need to upgrade the brakes after i went 2 sizes bigger in turbo size, 1st I have fitted the bb43a from the 170bhp model then I fitted the internals from a Land Rover bv50 turbo into the stock Audi housing ! Car goes like a scalded cat !! 7DF50429-0D68-4FD3-AC2E-153728694D2A.jpeg B3361045-8AEE-40FA-B4B6-C884D9FE2293.jpeg 42FEBADB-20B6-4FC1-8ED7-C1B497DCB1BA.jpeg 4703AF5F-816B-4896-8A52-093E835D6E28.jpeg 6372DF6E-9CA0-49C1-8CBA-9530AABF815C.jpeg 4E2BD997-F3B1-4834-A078-D4AFD0FC5452.jpeg 7DCAA29D-6098-4607-80E5-16959D0A457B.jpeg 91F7306F-1575-405F-9E2A-1C4AFA75B5C2.jpeg 5B26DE9E-8193-4735-B1B1-25076652B1F7.jpeg 638814E7-61F4-4980-9E4B-B84C33CBB72F.jpeg

For the mk2 golf brake upgrade I used the exeo calipers (as mentioned above they have larger pistons), Skoda Fanica vrs 312mm discs and Passat v6 tdi caliper carriers. I could also jump to golf mk4 r32 and 320mm discs and b7 Audi ATE hp2 calipers but discs are a lot dearer than the 312mm…I thought to myself I would rather go for 4 pot calipers from Alfa, Megane rs, Porsche boxer with caliper carriers and aftermarket brake discs than mess about with heavier discs and calipers… 87DF7966-D173-481A-9E70-BC1ED5146B24.jpeg 5CA48BDE-A5ED-4C21-8026-A3C960B18300.jpeg

No don't worry I like to see it! Not many people have Exeo's over here for some reason but they are fantastic cars. I've had mine since it was 6 months old and never had to pay anything out on it in 90k except for 2 rear brake pads and a wiring fault on the clutch switch.

I did have it Revo mapped 20 days ago but have just had it taken off. The stock clutch doesn't like it in higher gears at full throttle at 2k rpm - it slipped to 2000-2300 rpm and then held firm to redline. I don't think the clutch is on it's last legs - bites fine, light in its action - but felt the map was too potent for torque (430nm at 2000rpm up from 350 nm) and overloaded the clutch springs. Now it is back to stock 170ps it drives nicely again and to be fair isn't really lacking for daily driving. Got a full refund so no compliants.

Yep, i think the exeo was the best kept secret in the bussines ! I had 3 so far, nearly 1 mil km I have done in them, I commute with it ! I have had my last one mapped too, I do all mechanical upgrades myself and the mapping was done by a friend of mine as mine had the diesel gate software on and was encrypted so I couldn’t read or write the Infineon tricore chip ! With the hybrid bv50 turbo it surges a lot under 2000rpms, the n75 maps still need work but I have no problem over 2000rpms so I just rev the engine higher ! This summer I have a Quattro conversion, I have everything I need off a BEW Audi A4 b7: tank with pumps, Quattro gearbox, propshaft, rear subframe complete with diff, full dual exhaust, some wiring and much more !

Sounds a great project - there is a chap on the Exeo facebook group (Siena Gbudje) who has done the quattro converesion and he comes across very helpful if you had any questions and he is also grafting on a RS4 kit and putting the engine in from either a rs4 or rs6 on as well (I can't remember which)
