    Work on your dragstrip technique.
    I got 17.0 out of a standard 1.8 driver.
    (90bhp :p ;) )

    the 2.0 16v rado's are 136bhp,and have the 9a engine.

but you could stick a rocket engine in a corrado and its still a fuckin corrado-shit-poor mans 968.

As this has turned into a general sl*ging match now, i'll join in.

    I had this:

OK, there was a slight handling advantage in the Corrado, but IMO the Golf is a much better all round car, and more fun too beleive it or not. Reflected in the fact that the Corrado lasted 8 months on the drive, and the Golf has been here for 14 months so far and will be here for a long time yet!

I think who ever has been at the inters will tell you that qtr mile strip was anything but perfect for its purpose [xx(]

It was wett or damp at best and nowhere near as sticky as santa pod

Still sticking to my claim that there want be much between mk2 8v and the rado, especially once on the move :)

    Sorry but you're so wrong.

Both cars in standard form and the Corrado will get whipped, well and truly!!

136bhp in a car as heavy as a Corrado? You're talking mk3 8v performance, which is blatantly slower than a mk2 8v. You're just blinkered by the word, 'Corrado' mate. :)

i'm talking out of experience here, but really cant be ar*ed arguing :)
on m-way speeds there is little difference between them, even mk2 16v
    not "blinkered" by a corrado at all m8 as i also have 2 mk1-s and a mk2 cos i love them :)

On the motorway is a totally different kettle of fish though....the Corrado is heavy but once it's rolling with a revvy 16v in it it's bound to a bit better on the motorway than an 8v motor.

My point though is that from a standing start (which is what I think the originator of this thread was implying), the Golf will be quicker.
