All in hand...discussions on such already conducted.

Also consider fitting lighter valvegear to allow higher revs without adding more losses by going to stronger springs...done that too.

    So every little helps, surely?

Which has little to do with reducing parasitic losses from the engine...but probably explains the uber low gearing!

Hey let's face it sometime few extras horses
Are the one who make you win the race
And you don't have to have the scrapper on both side just on one side
So no worry about pumping losses
And it s so cheap to make

To be fair I would not like to have teflon bit swimming around my sump
I prefer a metal plate finely adjust who just clear the crank

I will expect to see larger pulleys on the alternator and water pump, as well as the air con and power steering tossed next time I see the car. ;)

    Alternator and Water Pump considered...under-driven.

PS and Air Con will remain...because I can.
    Although, may be lightened.

Not at all...air con can be dissengaged.
Step into the new millenium Herr Danster.

I met a mad German at the 'ring who was piloting his GT3 with some talent...and he had ordered a 'comfort' spec GT3 than converted the flywheel to 'Club Sport' spec, changed the seats and fitted the cage...as he was 10 seconds per lap quicker if he wasn't sweating his nads off.

Pfft!! And of course switching the air con off completely removes the compressor and heat exchanger's weight from the car. [:s]
Sweating one's nads off is also going to save 200g or so too I would imagine.

But I have a lardy Mk3...an extra 20Kgs isn;t going to make any difference in 5790000Kgs.

My rocco has been lightened some what. 10kg on the cylinder head alone. ;)
4 speed 020 by the way. I can pick the back end of my car up off the ground.
And I am also about half the weight of EssThree. :o

Think of the extra weight your 5 stud, widetrack schizzle has added Herr Featherweight

Pfft! This only adds up to the weight of an inch of extra wishbone, driveshaft, steering tie rod.
The added benefit of this widetrack was to improve the handling and brakes using oem parts.
And the current 288 brakes are getting removed for 280s to save further weight.
I am also working on putting the 4 stud flanges into the 5 stud hubs to save weight on those uber large wheel studs that are required to hold up a lardy MK3 Golf.

Thread is now officially hijacked by the way.

4 x M12 vs 5 x M14 per corner...bit of savings there. At least equal to your bodyweight, I reckon.
