I will try to find out the answer to that. Germany was the source IIRC.

Are you going to be using uprated conrod bolts/forged pistons in it?

So just out of interest, is the standard rev limit the upper rev limit for standard parts?

Is that with regard to strength or wear? I am really guessing here, but. I recon. the rev. limit propably allows for long life as well as strength capability.

If you look at the fact alone, that some VAG engines have cast cranks, and some forged, in what are basically the same engine, with basically the same rev. limit. Then you would expect the forged crank to accept higher revs. before failure throught strength alone.

'Blueprinting' an engine, uses standard parts and produces more power and allows higher revs.

I wasn't thinking in that much detail, more of how high you could go on a standard engine before dents start appearing in the bonnet!

Would it be worthwhile putting together a list of various components' rpm/power limits? Based on people's experiences, it could be useful for folks putting engines together.. just a thought
