Doesn't look that fast really, i think the tyre blowing on the pot hole distracts him quite a bit

Pot hole??? I didn't see that. What time on the vid is it when he hits it?
I thought the wheel damage was done by the huge lump of rock he hits ie: the mountain.

You're right Chris when you say he "does nothing for a couple of seconds", even when its clear the road is becoming hazardous. I find speed hard to judge on videos. Looks to be 40-50ish but, i cant really guess. Maybe it looks faster than it actually is.

Not long before he reaches the water keep an eye on where the front right tyre is and look for a bang at 56-57secs to see the tyre blow unless he hit the fencing though there are a few marks on the road there just out from the fence just before the bang????

I hear the noise, it could be the as he hits the water but i cant put my finger on it. Having "Steve Wright" blasting out on the radio doesn't help my cause though.

Agreed, which is what i menitoned above. Nobody seems to have picked up on it though.

You can hear the bang and the water fly out the hole he hits. Then he is just a passenger.

Are you sure? I've watched it several times and to me, it's aquaplaning + a load of water on the surface spewing up.

There's a few lumps of tar on the right verge, but he missed them.

Definitely a loud bang and a cloud of wispy gas all around the tyre area not like a splash from water

Only just noticed there is also a ! caution sign

edit: it does look like water but there seems to be 3 long pot holes in a row....

Yep, I see what you mean. Could be. Tricky to say [:s]

At 2:01, the amount of water going across the road is visible as a clue whether it's enough for a fountain like that!

I think the intial bang hitting the pot hole distracts him then the speed and aquaplaining catches him out.

It could have easily ripped a ball joint or CV which caused the car to just tramline into the rocks with a big enough hole.

You`re both mental! This was aquaplaning, pure and simply... [><]

No potholes, no popped tyre, no ripped out balljoints/CVs.

0:56; Clearly (to us viewing it with hindsight) a `river` of water across the road.

0:56.5; Marked here is the furthest extent of the `river` and the three anomalies Mike noted. Most likely stones/rubber pieces/general road detritus that the water is flowing around/over making them look bigger than they are. Certainly not potholes, and definitely after the river, and after the impact.

0:57; Car hits the water which is clearly thrown up on the right hand side. Third of the anomalies still visible. Car already moving left.

1:51; Right hand wheel intact. Tyre also appears to be inflated (inconclusive), but if it is deflated, the wing could have popped it when it deformed.

1:54; The view from the other side post crash. You can see the three anomalies are actually beyond the white line, but the water flo around them enroaches onto the road.
