You can see the difference in the ball joint placement on the hub. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not sure what others have done but remember there are two flavours of wide track as in 4 stud and the five stud so called plus suspension. The plus suspension redesigned slightly to give more castor. I have used all plus suspension but with 4 stud hub flanges pressed into the plus suspension hub carrier. Thus getting 3.5 def of castor but retaining 4 stud. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
aye you need to modify the 5 stud wishbone slightly to accept a 4 stud ball joint then you can fit the 4 stud bearing carriers. the downside is the wheel moves in the arch, but as you can see that its not toooooo bad, just a case of knowing about it before hand in case it will annoy you you could finess the wing and arch trim a bit to make it a little less noticeable I suppose. The other option is as above use the 5 stud bearing carrier, then if you want it 4 stud press a 4 stud hub in there and then its just a case of re-drill 5 stud discs to suit.
Indeed RJ, I got MTech to drill my disks to 4x100. However due to the offset difference I have 280mm carriers and 256 calipers and they are fine with my G60 steels. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not normally, no. Most people will use the complete set up from one or the other. I'm spethial, and want to do something particular with mine. Maybe. lol
RJ is correct, best bet is to go all mk3 gti/vr6 if you can. I only used mk2 hubs because i wanted to keep my Brembos and wheels. As RJ said, needed to fettle the Wishbone end, also need mk3 td (not tdi!) driveshafts to for the 4stud hubs. I didn't have to modify the arch with but i have adj top mounts set for max castor which helped re-centre the wheel slightly in the arch. Sent from my E2303 using Tapatalk
The GTI/VR6 plus suspension with the added castor has made the car such a dream to drive, a much more modern and controlled feel to it and wants to go straight ahead like a dream. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
