Is there a list anywhere of bits that can be chopped/cut...etc out of a mk2 to make it lighter without turning it into a death trap?

Remember that in different championships/series you are permiited to remove certain things in line with the regs. Think about the future of the car before chopping bits out.

I'm going to the scrap yard tomorrow to pick the parts up for my wide tracking and also make an attempt at bagging a bigger servo/master cylinder while i'm there.

Is there anything else I could be on the hunt for while i'm there which will make the car more able?

There is a company who do heated front screens! I'll find it for you.
Reat stub axle spacers work very well for me too so far (10mm each side for now) does not sound alot but makes a bigger difference than you would expect.
If wide tracking, try to get all the parts off the same car, that way you know they are right for sure, also keep a note of the reg for future ref in case you need to re-order some.

    Brilliant guys, thanks!

Can anyone tell me how much a brembo 305mm kit is worth, i've been offered one?

With the right pads fluid I have never had brake fade with the 280mm G60s hammering them on trackdays for ages. I can also lock the brakes so they work well. Sprinting is often a short burst so the brakes don't get as hot. I would therefore go as small as possible on the disk to keep the unsprung and rotation weight down. Try the 280mm first maybe 'upgrade' if you need to.

Personelly if I was sprinting my mk2 I would upgrade to 4 pot calipers and 256mm brakes, (my mk2 however is light and not that powerful).

Is there any measurable real world difference?

I will be running wide wet slicks, i've been told the extra grip causes more heat?
