Just started to mess with HDR processing a bit. Gotta say I highly reccomend it!!! There's a bit to learn to keep pictures looking fairly natural but its good fun! Not my best composed car shot but I like how it's come out.

There's a proggy called Photomatix and I believe you can get a free trial of it from somewhere online.

Have to use it carefully, or the effects can be far too unnatural.

Originally, I used it on landscape type shots, by shooting 3 shots, + and - plus normal exposure, then use the three to get highlights and lowlights to good effect.

But since found that if you shoot in RAW, you can do a similar thing by altering the exposure in RAW, then a bit of fettling in PS.

    NIce photo, BTW

That is a cracking photo mate, i've made a few HDR's of my car but not turned out as good as that. Good stuff.

Did you make it from 3 shots or a single?

Thanks for the comments everyone. I made the shot using Photomatix, like Stella said, it's good but you have to be careful to keep it looking natural(ish).

That photo was actually made using just one photo converted from RAW with 3 different exposure levels. Ideally its best to take 3 seperate shots to capture the full dynamic range thats visable, though on some shots (like the above one) you can get away with one RAW capture as the dynamic range in the shot isn't massive.

A friend of mine has written a great tutorial on how to use Photomatrix. He's an incredible photographer and uses HDR quite a lot in his photos

Edited the link to the right site now, sorry.

PS2 doesn't do HDR. You have to use Photomatrix to do the conversion, which is a separate application.

im trying to get to grips with Photomatix, but im not really getting any good results.

what ive been doing is starting with 1 picture, and creating 2 others from this. 1 darker and 1 brighter version. and then creating a HDR image using Photomatix.. but it always looks pants...

if i post a pic, would someone post what they come up with and tell me how you did it.. im loosing patients with it lol
