right - i have no idea how long a key number is, but the 1116 would seem promising....now where'd you park your car yazz?

Thanks Yazz - just phoned the locksmith back, he said thats defo a key number, so should have one stamped on mine also - incidently, he says they are normally only found on the passneger side! good news, as from the number I can get a accurate key cut! Great!

I'm guessing thats at me, as madmonkey was saying to check them all along - legend! But i was getting conflicting advice tbh, but now it's confirmed.

    Thanks all.

Hope you get it sorted, i've found my passenger handle and there's no number on the lock barrel!!
But i do remember the car had a bit of damage under the passenger handle so it might have been a replacement lock.

It's just I went through a phase of buying a brand new key from VAG for every car I bought.

Found the best way was to remove the drivers lock barrel (if they were all the same)

Just made putting the key in the door and ignition that much sweeter.[8D]

Got my key number guys - it was stamped on the passneger door barrel as promised! Now fingers crossed for tomorrow when i get the key cut....sod's law says it won't turn the ignition:lol:

For reference - the key code is located here, and i checked the driver's barrel and there was nothing stamped but i'm guessing it could easily be on that side too:
