Just a bit of copy and paste from uk-mkivs from when Bill had it...

"hybrid IHI roller bearing turbo with Jabbasports exhaust manifold, downpipe, cat etc. 2.75" Jetex single box exhaust system, Steel rods, ARP fasteners, S3 pistons, charge cooler, uprated SMIC, boost controller. Engine runs to over 8000rpm with power between 380-410bhp depending on boost levels run."

"Gearbox currently is quaife 6spd, with Quaife ATB diff."

Now sports a mahoosive FMIC instead of the uprated SMIC and probably one or two other changes? (engine/gearbox related)

If thats what you ment surely power to weight comes into it? As my bro's old RS turbo 230 bhp would urine all over my M3 once moving [:s]

Id say the Golf would have no chance but you havent said what type of M3 you drive. You could have anything between 200 bhp and 340 ish bhp.

    My M3 has been r/roaded at 293 bhp [:D]
But still does not feel that fast, its hard as my bro and mate both drive 380+ cossies.
I would have thought a 220/240 bhp golf would be quick [:s]
Now you have got me re-thinking

There aren't any 4wd Ibizas to my knowledge but I'm sure some continental dude will cook one up soon.
