Well bits of it were imported from the UK anyways.

Its a FN L1A1 in .308/7.62x51 I found at a local shop for $600. Which is about half of what they normally go for.

    Oh nice. Weird stock though.

Lots of British people thing they are great battle rifles and best thing ever.

The only thing they do well is turn cover into concealment.

In every other way the AR15 is a better battle rifle.

    But I digress.

Awesome purchase considering the price. Get a proper FN stock on it and it'll be worth double what you paid.

what use does it have other than a mechanical ornament. even if you take it to a shooting range, youre shooting at pretty much the same static target id imagine. so it was a genuine question, what will that be used for?

In gun restricted England that could be legally used for shooting deer, shooting medium sized vermin, target shooting at long distances (much skill involved) and shooting at moving targets at specific ranges.
    Physical and Postal competitions.

Theres quite a lot you can do with them here, so in America I bet theres a lot more.

and over here (in your area, for example) are there many places you can actually do that? there used to be two clay pigeon shooting ranges local to me but both of those closed down years ago.

my old man has a double barrel beretta in a cabinet at home which is pretty much redundent. would be a laugh to get that out again

    Matt82 - you mentioned shotguns.

Apparently Shotgun Shooting is the second most popular participant sport after fishing in the UK.

So yeah, plenty places you can do that!

Also, the biggest purpose built shooting ground in the world is in Surrey. In the WORLD. And its in England. Who'da thunk it?

Plenty plenty uses for something like that in England, now if we take the fact that the US has a second amendment, bet theres loads more stuff you can do with a FAL in the USA.

for some reason I can never ever accept that fishing and shooting are taken part by more people in england than football?? there are literally thousands of league's all with hundreds of teams in each with 20 ish players in.......

it must be true but I still can't get my head round it!!! lol

Theres a whole load fat people who dont like football enjoy fishing, same for shooting.

Shooting is so embedded that everyone knows someone that has or has had a shotgun, as per Matts dad for example.

Look at my big gun/tiny cock.

Guess it's useful if you have no chance of ever running away from a big scary terrorist.
