So now it has been announced.... who else is not that excited about this? I was hoping it might have been a bit more of a game changer. And it looks like I would need to switch from my 9 years of O2 use to EE to make use of the 4G. so which one of the CGTI will be first to go 5?
Why did you expect a game changer? Apple aren't really trying to compete with the stupidly oversized Android devices. The phone has had a complete redesign, that's what everyone wanted? And a screen you can still use with 1 hand. Better optics, thinner, faster, better gpu/CPU, screen size bump. I'd happily upgrade. We all knew what it was going to be about 6-8 weeks ago though. So many leaks. Everything everywhere have lte (4g) support completely wrapped up for the uk for the immediate future though. 5,4,3,2,1........ Apple haters commence..............
I'm just so excited, really I am......I know, I don't sound convincing do I? It'll be on version 20 before I might consider upgrading my old XDA2 lol It does what I need it to do make calls and text. I'm not a 'hater' btw I do have an Itouch 16GB
It looks lovely. But I'm still happy with my 3GS Its an oldy but goody -couple that with my current 10 a month no contract GiffGaff instead of whatever "bargain" monthly tariff you have to stump up for how many years -I'm in no hurry to change. Trouble? Brotty Ferry?, quicksand? or good old Costorphine? I'll save you for your 4S!
I don't see the need to upgrade my 4S. 4G? They need to sort coverage first. Still loads of black spot areas round here. I'm normally within wifi signal anyway. TBH since I bought the iPad I have been using my iPhone less and less and now just use it as a phone!lol
I'm biased - I work for them. I'm pre-ordering one on Friday though. Damn right. I'll flog the iPhone 4 on ebay, buy the new one unlocked, and keep paying 15 a month. I think it's getting to the point where it's just about impossible to revolutionise the phone again - not until there's another technology leap that enables it. It's a voice phone, a video phone, a camera, a music player, a sat nav, a games machine, guitar tuner, dyno, spirit level, diary, lap timer...... and it's got more processing power than most PCs had 5 years ago... in a phone. What more do you actually want? I think the choice now is down to which operating system you like best, what you actually want to use your phone for, and how much you're prepared to pay.
Nothing special - better phones out there for less money. Although you will be hard pushed to find a better built phone than the iPhone.
This is why I like Apple. I have an iPhone 4S as a personal phone, and a Samsung Galaxy SII as an work mobile. The iPhone just feels so much better. All the apps I have on my iPhone are avialable for Android, and there's nothing on Android that I want that's not available for the iPhone. As Mike says, there's no real difference any more, it's just which one you prefer.
Because naturally, thats the way you put your phone in your pocket. Top down. At least, i do. Better is a subjective word. I dont find a plastic Samsung phone better, just because it has a massive screen, too much power than is needed and changeable batteries.
Not exactly bowled over with it, don't get me wrong there is improvement and refinement, but I can't see anything it does that others do already. I'll probably get one when I'm up to renew mine. I'm with T-Mobile now (owned by EE) so I guess they'll be able to offer me 4G when the time comes. But it will depend on how Apple treat me. I haven't really forgiven them for what happen to my old 3G when the 4 came out. I bought it as the 'old model' about 4 weeks after the 3GS came out and I really loved it, the 4 came out about a year later, along with the new IOS of course, promising all sorts of new features and such, in reality it brought almost zero new features at all, but just made it run like it will filled with electronic goo. IMHO it was just a way for them to make all the old 3G phones obsolete hoping we'd all run to the nearest Apple store waving thick piles of 20 notes begging to be saved. I've got a standard 4 now, again bought a few weeks after the 4S came out, I prefer Mr and Mrs Musthave to do the over-paying, I've had it a year and the earliest I can change it is about 6 months from now. IOS6 is due next month, and I'll read all the blurb and it will no doubt tell me about all the new fancy things it will do for all devices and it'll make my 'old' phone much better in terms of performance and features and I'll probably download it, but I fear it'll turn my 'old' phone into a lump of crap again.
I had an Android, and I hated that, admittedly it was a very cheap LG device. I'm not interested in an Android v Iphone argument, jeez Android v IOS fights are competing with porn for web space dominance today... but do Android purposely scupper old devices to sell you newer ones? I have little doubt in my mind Apple do. I'm told IOS6 will be here next Wednesday, I'll probably download it, in fact nowadays my phone will probably download it all on it's own, if it's indeed better, or even the same I'll probably carry on being a happy Apple customer and buy a 5 when it's time to change, if indeed it acts like an electronic self-destruct device I'll follow Apples horrifically complex guide to loading old IOS versions and get a gif-gaff sim in 6 months, which is what I should really do anyway.
Does the 5 have a different plug though? If it does it would be a pain, I have 2 docks and 3 of our cars have iPhone connections as does Jessicas when i feel the need to borrow the mini lol
I'd love to swap my Nokia 6300 for one!!! My daughter has an iPhone 4 and my missus has a Sony Xperia S. To me the iPhone feels heavier, maybe stronger but apart from that they are so similar your average bloke in the street wouldn't tell them apart.
It does yes, A much smaller one thats about 10mm Wide. I guess there will be an adapter for it. Docks are a pain though as it will be sticking out quite far on top of a dock port! I will get one, But not before my contract runs out. (Oh whats that, I only took a 12 month contract?)
Looks like this will save some of the issues http://windows7bluetooth.com/youll-need-a-30-adapter-to-link-iphone-5-to-old-gadgets.html and there is talk of a bluetooth plug in to your old dock's so you can still play itunes via an old system. Whihc I might get any way as it would make my "old" iphone into a cool remote
