Thats a cracking result, the RE2000 came out of the box with 170bhp the package offered by GTI Engineering did not contain modified camshafts rather just modified cam timing so it show the gains a good set of sticks can give. Are they 268 / 276 or 276/276?

I'd say there's got to be a problem on barny's engine somehow. Maybe an air leak, or dodgy injectors or something. Maybe the metering head??

Tho having said that it was making plenty of torque with the std head and cams so I dunno ... it's a weird one. Cam timing maybe?

precams it was around 150lbft of torque - near enuff exactly the same as pauls(speedos). As we ahve known each other for years and have swapped cars often at tracks the two cars are scarily close in abilities.

But that quite a lot different [:^(]

Cheer`s prof for getting the results from Vince.
and yer it`s a 50mm manifold, with a slight gass flow..

What the hell can they modify on the injection system??

I suppose this explain`s how it has taken so much abuse for so long, with no more than oil changes!!

I even thrashed the poor thing (with out realising) before it was run in, as i purchased her after the engine had been fitted.... whoops!!

all of B`s injector`s are new, and he always replaces stuff before it`s worn out.
All it can be is the `different strokes`[:-B]

Its nothing to worry about - torque is good in road cars but its power that counts on a track - otherwise why arn't there more racing diesels - also its often said of honda's that they are crap road cars as they have little low down grunt but they make excellent track cars, and have low torque figs. You say yourself from experience that your and speedo's cars are evenly matched on track where measures like power:weight are much more significant than has one car got more torque than another.

I recently read a comparison of 2 Mk4 golf racers in some magasine - one had a massive torque 1.9TDI in it (from the Allard guys) and the other had a 1.8T in it - lots less torque than the diesel. Which was faastest ? the 1.8T by a country mile.

Of course you have to have a decent gearbox to go with that power........the torque boys can get away with crap ratios

    Cheers

    Rob
