So the rumours go the later unit has a less aggresive ignition map at higher rpm.

I put an early one in mine and it definately doesnt tail off as much at high rpm's - the rev limiter is also higher.

I've got the early one on mine, as Golden says, it doesn't knock the timing back at 5000rpm as the later one does.

One has grey writing on it, the other green. :p

Maybe for Unleaded fuel, or just the gradual reduction of lead content in 4-star?

Are we talking about the ignition module from the k-jetronics engine??? (sorry don't know the codes for the different versions)

as Ithink it was only the digi-jobies (later 8Valves) that can be set up to run properly on unleaded???

    sothat shouldn't be the difference????[IMG]

Leaded going down in octane could be why I guess?? I didn't realise it had though?? I remeber 2-star was fazed out sometime in the late eighties.

Finally pulled my finger out and swapped ecu on the valver.
Here is a few pics of different ecu.
First one is from my 1986 16v which had 41mm inlet manifold and was Swiss import(if that makes any difference ?)
and this one is from my 1990 which is now running original 1986 engine and inlet so I will see if there is any noticeable difference soon.
This one ends with B not early one.

There are definitely differences from country to country, because I know that South African ones had retarded timing to allow for the low octane fuel there. Don't know if a Swiss import would be any different though.....

Strict emissions tests in Switzerland way back before anyone else bothered about it.Not that it seemed to be any different to any other 16v of that age as far as I can see but I haven`t seen that many so not in a position to say.

The Swiss, they've bottled out of every armed conflict for the last few hundred years and are famous for chocolate, cocko clocks, shaddy bank deals and making motorsport illegal, t**serS.
