Read on another forum that Leda are closing down.

    Hi Everyone,

Yes they are closing the doors. I only found out on Wednesday and feel for the staff and owners who have all lost their jobs.

It's down to a mixture of circumstances and is a shame as they would have been open 30 years this year.

    Noooooo

give Gaz a ring - you might find some aspects of the design to be similar to Leda...

There is a big gap in the market now for bespoke damper units....where are the business men amongst us?

The business mans first question would be "Why did Leda go under"?
Seems they were well respected, with a good product. That means they were either badly managed, or there wasn't enough business for them to turn a profit.

    Anyone shed some light?

P.S. Ian, just noticed you're in Daventry. I'm in Leamington Spa, so not far away at all.
Why that's relevant is beyond me! I blame it on the wine...

Ooooh, Voodoo, they used to have happy hour from 5 - 7, was half price cocktails, or something similair. I remember a couple of rather pleasant evenings starting there.
If you find yourself at Rio's, it's time to go home...

Enough random thread hijacking for one evening.

so whats the suggested link between GAZ and Leda then?
same peeps split fro Leda or summat?

a la Spax and AVO many years ago

I considered Leda vs KW and KW. Price from Leda was nutts, not like they used to be like. That for me was a deterrant.

    I didn't know that.

However, I was speaking to Vince yesterday, and Leda were supposed to be providing free suspension to some race series this year. I didn't ask which one, but I would have thought that is going to hurt a series quite a bit to lose that level of sponsorship.

Well from what i've heard, the person that setup GAZ originally was part of Leda and thus has carried over some of the technology and knowledge.

I've got Gaz dampers for the Firenza - 50 a corner adjustables. Can't comment on how well they work yet, but build quality looks very sound to me (and a real bargain!)

I've *heard* that some of the expertise from Leda is now Gaz - and everyone i know of who's used them has given good reports.

A lot of companies are evidently hitting tough times - Leda are/were a premium product, without the big push advertising and anodised crap. Not the same as FK, or Gaz in image terms: just serious hardware, sold at corresponding prices.

That possibly is where they have ultimately lost out, but everyone's all the worse off for it now.

I’m loath to buy more from Bilstein because of the pi55 poor customer service, I’ve mailed there customer service twice with no reply and had no return call after chatting with the reps at a trade show. I’m looking for something of equivalent or better quality, I’m not shortcutting after the cash and effort I’ve already put in. if I can’t find anything then Bilstein it may have to be with someone else’s springs

Don't tie yourself to anyone's springs tbh - neither here nor there. Pick dampers, then get springs from anywhere.
