All I can say is I'm pleased to see cars being put together on a budget for the Mk2 series, what with Ian's suspension coming in off the 'bay and via vrbanana.

If there's a set of 1k/corner dampers in the paddock, then the whole point is missed. But racing's full of them...

KW Motorsport units like I run are'nt std production items... and KW say they're also hand built... I doubt either uses robots
Sad to hear of another company as long standing as Leda going, but is this more than commercially caused?

One thing I would say about the Ledas is that they can be cost effective in the long run because you can send them back to be serviced after a few years use, whereas if you use things like Koni and Spax you cant get them rebuilt, so if you have to replace them after two seasons which is usually how long it takes for them to get play or sieze up the adjusters then it costs another 500 to replace them so you are back to the 1k that the Ledas cost.

Thats unless anyone knows where to get Spax or Koni's serviced?

Yep, Konis are/were, though the place/guy that did it closed.... 2 yrs ago....

He wants telling to f*ck off IMO. Roll the clock back 5-6 years and it was nowhere near what it is today. Peeling through some old motorsport press last weekend put it fresh in my mind.

Thanks for that...mine are actually Spax, and they tell me that they have to be replaced....but I will see if the Koni rebuilders do Spax.

Camberley Auto Factors are the UK Koni importer, or a parallel business at the same address is, IIRC. The place that refurbed the units was up the road, but that's the one that shut 2 yrs ago.

If you've not got these rebuilt yet Gaz do a custom rebuild service. I've just opened an account with them and have been reading through their glossy catalogue!

Oh, and the Gold kit for a Mk2 Golf rrp is 826 +Vat, can't remember who earlier in the thread thought it was ~600... The Gaz GHA kit is 510 +vat. (hth!)

I have Leda on my Elise and have always been very pleased with it, got it rebuilt after about 2 and a half years road and track use which I thought was a little soon though.

I took some Koni's to be serviced about a year ago at a place just off the A43 between Brackley and the M40. Not sure if it was the same guys from the place that closed down near Camberley, but it wasn't cheap-probs cost almost as much as a new set as i recall!

I read a bit about this in the 750 Motorclub magazine....aparantly a guy who races in the 750 motorclub had a shunt ans was fed up that he couldn't get his dampers repaired so he bought the company from the receivers....so it should be in the hands of an enthusiast which is always nice to hear.
