Im thinking of respraying my already black mk2 golf Matt Black next weekend! been thinking bout this for awhile now! Whats peoples views on the Matt paint work sceen?? am also gona spray the alloys matt as well! total stealth look! am gona take before, during and finshed photos of the proces next weekend and all put up for all to see lol,
Yeah, I like the look too - does anyone know how Matt or Satin finishes hold up to acid rain, bird poo etc etc??
As soon as bird crap hits it,you will want to be washing it off straight away if you can. Acid rain will leave white spots if not washed often enough too...I like the look also, but it must be a slight hassle to keep on top of. Neil.
Hi all Did mine about a month ago, so far so good. Just have to put up with the "When are you going to finish painting it?" comments!!!
i have just done mine matt black ,does look the nuts ! i used roller matt black paint from wicks , then hycote matt black spray over it i am gonna put a restoration wax over it thats a wax that doesnt buff up but protects only time will tell if it works
All sounds very technical, I just sprayed mine with 600ml cans!! A month on and a few washes it seems fine. Before: After:
do it do it do it i only paited it matt black so i didnt have to look at primer any longer as i spent the last year restorin it still loads away but worth the time
you can get it fom "alec tiranti"'s thats a arts and crafts shop the wax is called "renaissance wax" comes inna white pot and not wildly expensive
ok so im thinking of goin down the matt route myself... but what kind of prep work do i need to do to the car to get it ready for painting?
why? if your paints terrible then i can see its an easy fix, but i wouldnt do it to a car with a decent finish surely its better to get any bad bits proffesionally re-painted? if you do decide to matt it! any paint you put on will only be as good as the prep work regardless of colour or finish
I would think that satin looks far better than a mat finish and is probably easier to keep looking decent. Are you sure that some of you don't mean satin rather than mat?
I dont know about mat black but my car is what i call the ripple effect lol Heres a closer one lol i suppose it will be matt when i wet flat it all off lol
thats called "ORANGE PEEL" mate!!! if you have enough paint on the car you can wet flat it off with 1200-1500 grit paper, then spin it up and hope its enough, it may still have flat spots though, it will take some effort but you got this far so its worth a rescue attempt, just be carefull on any edges if you use a buffer, it will either burn the paint into fine pimples if you stay in one place too long or tare through paint it to the primer!! was the finish baked in an oven? i hope you didnt paint it in the street!!!!
Well thats the motor all matt black now! looks the doggz nuttzzz! wainting on my m8 to uploads pics so will post in next few days! still need to sort me alloys out but gave them a light dusting black for now1 looks very mean! lol!
