yep the steelies are staying. it was a fairly mint oak green 16v but didnt want a show car so sprayed it matt green stripped the interior down to a steering wheel and some seats and plan to track next season!
I didn't realise there were so many matt black mk2s, we should set up our own club. This is my one The paint was done over two years ago now, and is only now starting to look a little tired, I'll probably give it a freshen up at the beginning of next year. Spraying is easy enough, to get a decent finish you need to spend time on the prep. I done all of mine with 1.35 spray cans from the local hardware shop.
Cool, nice to know someone other than myself likes what I have done. Have you got any pictures of yours? Have you put that wax on yet? I'd be interested to know how it goes.
You're all fooking mad!! I've just spent the best part of 4hrs wax prepping my paintwork before lavishing it with a fancy carnuba wax sealant to silly sheen proportions, and everyone's matt finishing!!
how easy is it to matt paint a car, keep looking on this and keep thing of doing, has any 1 done a cabby yet lol
That's why I like having matt paint, only need to spend half an hour on i to get it clean, plus it's easy to touch up and make small repairs. It's not hard at all. You'll need to rub down the entire car with wet and dry, I used 400 grit but I've heard of others using anything from 800 grit to 120 grit. Once you've rub it down, make sure the entire car is cleaned so there is no dirt or dust. Then mask around to rubbers, it helps if you can remove as much trim as possible. I sprayed a couple of layers of grey primer first, then about 6 layers of matt black. You get a better finish if you do it indoors, sun light drys the paint out too quickly and leaves it patch. Also, avoid spraying on humid days as this also affects the finish. With regards to Caddys, there a few that have been done, they are probably one of the more common cars to do, but they do look good.
Well i started to prep mine 2day, got p**ed of with body shops messing me abouit so i have changed my mine and going matt or satin black now.
