I wrote all of the European launch training material for the RX-8 and have driven the RX-8 extensively on both track and road so can probably talk with some knowledge: Good Points Actually feels sporty, very delicate and light feel to it Very chuckable once TC is fully disengaged Engine issues (!!) aside, its very well built and Suprisingly spacious inside Good value for money Huge grin factor beyond 6,500 rpm (231 PS model at least) Damn good dealer back-up Bad points Poor boot space Economy is poor, I was averaging about 19mpg but that was split 50/50 road/track work Interior plastic trim on the centre spine and seat backs (on leather trim equipped cars) scratches very easily You need to be in the right mood to get the best out of it I personally think there are a lot of scare stories about the Renesis engine. On the final pre-production cars I was driving (which had had a hard life), oil usage was about 1/2 litre per 1000 miles and the six cars we had on the track did a total of 25,000 miles (being hammered by European sales execs) without an engine failure Can't comment on the R32 - only ever admired it from afar
Six cars though, a total 0f 25k - so just over 4k per car without an engine failure? Not something I think Nissan would boast about......
