    What's your budget? Weld-in or bolt-in?

OMP cages seem to fit fairly nicely from my experience. depends what your after, and how handy you are with tubing and a welder. Getting the mounting points on weld-in cages is CRITICAL to the cages effectivness! Also the integrity of the shell you are welding it to, no point if its rotting!

I intend on adding to my OMP 6point with extra tubing (as per the MSA 'Blue Book')

    Who's the UK suppliers/importer?

Are OMP Mk1/2 FIA homologated cages - assume no?

Cool - do many Safety Devices cages turn up in the Mk2 Series, or is OMP the most common?

OT (and I'm sure you've done all the research) but do make one last check with Ian before modding the FIA OMP cage with MSA additions.

John Maudsleys car (Ians old chamionship winning car) 16v has a custom cages jobby IIRC..

All 3 J-tech ars have OMP cages, I think its the most popular one to be honest.. The fit and availability is pretty spot on.. Jamie Packhams OMP cage has a few additions that i'm going to make, such as x-door bars, b-pilar to b-pilar bar accross the floor and a dash bar, and extra b-pilar floor to rear arch diagional.. Whilst still removable from the car! challenging though it is! - All deemd legal at the first 2 meeting by Ian :-)

The Sparco one is 'illegal' as it has 2 bends in the A-pilar leg...

i cant seem to find anyone listing omp or any cages that fit with no sunroof or no dash.im not realy fussed if its bolt or weld in, a good friend of mine is willing to weld it in for me,hes done a few cages to a very high standard before, including his own hillclimb mini.

All cages will fit in a 'no sunroof' shell!, extra room due to there not being a sunroof in the way! Front legs on the mk1 cages normally go through the dash anyway, so as you have no dash this wont be a problem!

I would have though either a custom cages or a omp 6-point bolt in unit will sufficient!?

thanks very much for th reply

i just thought being a non sunroof model it would make more sense for the cage to be a snug fit?
as for the omp bolt in cages the only one ive found listed doesnt state it goes thro the dash?do you by chance know of anyone selling the ones that do please?

    kidn regards

There must be someone on here with a cages mk1 with the A-pilar legs that go through the dash??

Fitment wise, the mounting points/platforms normally can be make to take up the slack betwwen the roof and the main front tube..

Another option is a cage from RollCentre. My fabricator now only uses their cages, he has used others in the past but has found these to be a better fit. They are available in both weld in and bolt in and can be found here; http://www.rollcentre.co.uk/rollcentre/index.htm

As already quoted the fitting of the feet in very important and make sure you get a full weld around the top of the cage before fitting the feet.

    thanks for the replys
ive rung rollcentre and they wanted 1450 fitted or 470 for the blt in kit, but it doesnt go thro the dash and is for the sunroof models.
ive also rung saftey devices and they said the same there bolt in cage doesnt go thro the dash and is for sunroof models, they wanted 1800 fitted for the weld in cage.

    anyone think of anyone else?

    No mention of budget anywhere.

It's as easy to spend 300 as it is to spend 2k.

Rather than carpeting the thread in pricey nonsense, a figure - and ideas of where the car is being used - would go a long way towards giving you your answer.

not quite sure how to take the last reply??

my budget is around 1000 but i dont mind doing it myself if the cage is the right one.
the car will be a dedicated track car and im not planning it to be road legal.

thanks again for all the ideas so far

    regards
    sam
