Is it just an urban myth or do the earlier mk2 16v ECUs have a 'sharper' ignition map?

    part numbers??

The one with the "B" on the end of the part number`s got more agressive advance I think?

I've got a 16V ECU here that most certainly came out of a pre-90 spec 16V, but what year specifically I don't know.

The code is 811 907 384. No letter on the end.

I've also ripped the ECU out of my own 16V now. I'll compare the numbers when I get it out of the garage.

I know the south african ones had a more retarded timing curve to cope with lower octane petrol......

Was speaking to 'fast eddie' on MSN, Steve Creswell (lol) told him about it from what I can make out.
I've got the one off my old 'VVO' 16v somewhere, will compare numbers to the one on my car.

there are some differences i found a differnece when i fitted a later one to the old mk2 16v

apperently you can change a resistor in them to make it rev higher

Ok, thought as it's the Dubchicks RR day this Sunday, that I better dig out the ECU from the old 16v and fit to the car.

The part numbers are different, the one on the car ('91 J reg) was

    811 907 384 B

And the one on the old car ('87 D plate) was...

    811 907 384

Fitted it and will see what it does Sunday, does 'seem' to pull over 6k better than before. :)

Conflicting opinions as to whether the B prefix ECU is the sharper map or not then?[:s]

What year and spec is the car you are running as I have yet to get round to fitting old ECU in as I wanted to try out 90 spec ecu on early KR engine for a while first.
And in what way does it run better?
