Is it just an urban myth or do the earlier mk2 16v ECUs have a 'sharper' ignition map? part numbers??
I've got a 16V ECU here that most certainly came out of a pre-90 spec 16V, but what year specifically I don't know. The code is 811 907 384. No letter on the end. I've also ripped the ECU out of my own 16V now. I'll compare the numbers when I get it out of the garage.
I know the south african ones had a more retarded timing curve to cope with lower octane petrol......
Was speaking to 'fast eddie' on MSN, Steve Creswell (lol) told him about it from what I can make out. I've got the one off my old 'VVO' 16v somewhere, will compare numbers to the one on my car.
there are some differences i found a differnece when i fitted a later one to the old mk2 16v apperently you can change a resistor in them to make it rev higher
Theres this 1 on egay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=988 9&item=2488799226&rd=1
Mines 811 907 384 B Thats off a 1990 G-reg (and its also the same car where i got my user name from!!!)
Bloody hell!! 40, all his stuff is overpriced. Mines mint and still on the bracket i might whack it on for 60
Ok, thought as it's the Dubchicks RR day this Sunday, that I better dig out the ECU from the old 16v and fit to the car. The part numbers are different, the one on the car ('91 J reg) was 811 907 384 B And the one on the old car ('87 D plate) was... 811 907 384 Fitted it and will see what it does Sunday, does 'seem' to pull over 6k better than before. Conflicting opinions as to whether the B prefix ECU is the sharper map or not then?
The ecu's i have ,,old one numbers are the same bar one is 00 and the newer ones are 01 or the other way about ,,older ecu's have green print newer ones have white or is it gray my car runs better with the old ecu
What year and spec is the car you are running as I have yet to get round to fitting old ECU in as I wanted to try out 90 spec ecu on early KR engine for a while first. And in what way does it run better?
