Well, I didn't get chance to test the ECUs as my gearbox went "i'm not going in gear, raerrrrrrrrrrattle*tubthumped*grinddddddd" on the way to Worcester last night [:x]

Spoke to Vince today about it, and he's found the the earlier ECU doesn't retard the timing off from 24 degs at WOT around 5000rpm as the later one does.

Suprisingly the mk5 1600 (gasp!) FSI put out 127bhp

    80% of it's 115 lb/ft was available between 2-3k.

Pity it's got a lardy great body shell to lug around [:D]

Bummer about your gearbox garry [xx(], whats a next box you thinking of bolting to your 9a? Would a g60 box ratios suit a valver?

Interesting post.....Does Vince suggest they produce better results at the top end of the power curve or is it all the way thru Gary ??

Well if it doesn't retard the ignition at 5k then I'd assume the improvement is from there upwards...

i think you two should just get a pedalo then you can race each other up and down the coast and not break anymore gearbox's
