Well looking at the manifold and general wear and tear in the pic i'd say its definately from a VW, probably a mk4 golf, i cant see you using a 150bhp motor so i'll guess its from a mk4 aniversary, 180bhp probably with mileage around or just below the 20k mark??

    Am I anywhere close?

You can make the front x member what ever size and shape you want, theres nothing special about the original as long as the replacement is rigid enough, Ive braced mine to the new subframe and plan to add lower brace bars. The VRs always suffered with the rads size and run very hot when you knock the sh1t out of them so I thought the bigger the better, and the older fans were sh1t. It even gave me enough room for the oil cooler and it all sits behind the bumper or what is left if it   The ic is a genuine unit that I got at cost + a favour through a mate of mine, 70:thumbup:

Just to let you know the reason the 225 20vt engines have the throttle body on the right as aposed to the other 20vt engines is because these cars have two intercoolers (one infront of each wheel arch).

The other 20vt engines have one intercooler and let pipe work etc.

You can swap inlets between the DBW VVT engines you suit your plumbing needs.

2003 180bhp MK4 1.8t with single ic has the throttle body on the right as do the 225 TT engines (but they have 2 ics) [:D] [:D]

225bhp TT engines(BAM engine code) have two intercoolers, trust me I swaped a set out the other day for a mate. Not sure about the MK4 Golf.

Anyways, the point was that, if you want, you can choose the inlet to suit your pipe work.

Im aware of the fact that the TT 225 uses two coolers I just wasnt aware if you realised that the MK4 has a single cooler but the TB on the right, saves confusion and stops people automatically thinking that any 1.8t with a TB on the right is a 225.

The TB in your pictures is on the right, any item on a car is always described as you sit in the car and look forwards. The N/S is always considered as Left and the O/S is considered as Right, you even find this within ETKA irrespective of whether the car is left hand drive or right hand drive. Hence left and right hand drive as if you are pointing in the same direction as the car. So what you are saying is that the TB on the TT is on the left hand side not the right as the single ICd 1.8ts................ Case of my right is your left[:s] [:s] ....

Ahhhh!!! Sorted. I thought VW were hiding engines from me!!

LOL, I should stick to using n/s and o/s in the future. Does indeed cut down on the confusion.

    Cheers.
